Product basics

What does “single-ingredient” mean? It means exactly what it sounds like: one ingredient, clearly labeled, with no fillers.

Where are your ingredients sourced? Most of our products are USA-sourced. A small number are sourced outside the U.S. when that’s the best or only option, including:

  • Smelt from the Great Lakes (via Canada)
  • New Zealand green-lipped mussels
  • Sardines from Malaysia

Do you outsource processing? No. Our treats are processed in-house by our team, so we can stand behind the quality of what goes out the door.

The “shock factor” questions

Why do you sell rabbit heads (and other whole-animal treats)? Because a lot of usable parts get left out of mass production. We buy what would otherwise go unused and turn it into high-value treats. It’s about honoring the whole animal and using more of it responsibly.

Also: dogs don’t think it’s weird. They think it’s amazing.

Are bones safe for pets? It depends.

  • Cooked bones are not recommended. Cooking can make bones more brittle and more likely to splinter.†
  • Uncooked/raw bones are different and many raw feeders use them, but every pet is different and chewing style matters.†

If you’re unsure, start with smaller items, supervise closely, and talk to your vet.

Are fur or feathers “okay”? In nature, many carnivores consume parts like fur/feathers along with prey. Some nutrition researchers describe these as a form of “animal fiber” that can contribute to gastrointestinal function.‡

That said, tolerance varies by pet. Start slow, supervise, and discontinue if your pet shows any signs of GI upset.

Storage

How should I store treats?

  • Store in a cool, dry place
  • Keep treats in the sealed bag until you’re ready to use them
  • Reseal tightly after opening

What’s the shelf life? We focus on freshness and proper storage. If you have questions about a specific product or batch, email us.

Safety

Do I need to supervise my pet? Yes—always supervise while your pet is enjoying treats.

What’s the biggest risk you’ve seen? The #1 issue is an overly excited pet trying to swallow too fast. These are real, whole-food treats—make sure your pet chews.

If your pet tends to gulp, consider:

  • choosing smaller pieces
  • holding the treat while they chew
  • feeding in a calm environment

If your pet ever shows signs of choking or distress, seek veterinary help immediately.
